Monumental Historic Mansion in the Heart of Naples

Palazzo Doria D'Angri stands majestically in the historic center of Naples, its grand facade facing the hill, a vision conceived by Marcantonio Doria in the late 1700s under the skilled hands of Luigi Vanvitelli. This impressive front was designed to captivate the monarchs who would descend from the Royal Palace of Capodimonte in carriages. The palace gained fame a century later when, on September 7, 1860, Giuseppe Garibaldi proclaimed the annexation of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies to Italy from its balcony. The trapezoidal palace features two inner courtyards, one hexagonal and the other rectangular, perfectly aligned through a clever play of perspectives, creating an optical effect that offers views of Spaccanapoli while flooding the space with light. Upon entering through the grand doorway, a monumental Vanvitellian staircase leads to two noble floors spanning over 2,000 square meters of frescoed rooms adorned with hand-painted ceilings. The residence boasts 43 Murano chandeliers, a collection of 110 artworks, over 500 prints, 21 consoles, 32 mirrors, 12 columns, and 29 statues, including a half-bust of Garibaldi that resonates with the large stained-glass window in the main hall. Additionally, there are more than 50 lamps and 6 exquisite tapestries, making this mansion a unique gem among Neapolitan noble palaces.
