Greens & Gourmet: Where to Dine at Dubai Hills Golf Club
Dubai Hills Estate stands out as one of the most prestigious enclaves in the city. With select properties commanding up to AED 270,000,000 as of May 2025, residents of this refined neighbourhood can naturally expect a superior standard of amenities and services. Unsurprisingly, those who call this neighbourhood home seek a similarly elevated dining experience – and Dubai Hills Golf Club more than delivers. Read on to explore the finest restaurants in and around the golf club.
The Duck Hook
Set inside the clubhouse of Dubai Hills Golf Club and overlooking the 18th Green, The Duck Hook is a nod to traditional British culture, offering dishes that leave the community’s UK residents reminiscing about childhood days at grandma’s.
The Homemade Birdseye Butty – a fish finger sandwich for those who may not be familiar with British colloquialisms – is a particular highlight, while the Bacon and Egg Bap with brown sauce is not to be missed. Moving onto the mains, visitors would be remiss not to try the Fish & Chips considering the theme of the restaurant, whereas the Fisherman’s Pie serves as a hearty ode to the cold British winter.
While the a la carte menu provides visitors with some signature British dishes, the piece de resistance is arguably the pub’s Sunday offering: the fabled Roast Dinner. A staple of British Sunday afternoons since around the 15th century, The Duck Hook offers beef or chicken – as well as a vegan option – which all come with the sides you can expect from an authentic British Roast Dinner. Succulent pigs in blankets (mini sausages wrapped in bacon), deliciously roasted potatoes and homemade Yorkshire Puddings all come as standard, delivering a quintessentially English culinary experience amid the desert backdrop.
Another attractive selling point of The Duck Hook is its daily Happy Hour from 3 - 8 p.m. When combined with its Curry Tuesday, which spans the entire day from 11.30 am to 10.30 pm, this British eatery stands out even more. The pub also shows most big sports events including English Football, Formula 1 and of course, all major golf tournaments.
Hillhouse Brasserie
Offering outdoor seating on a wraparound terrace – perfect for the Dubai winter months – this restaurant provides expansive views of the surrounding golf course. Set in the clubhouse of the Dubai Hills Golf Club, Hillhouse Brasserie presents visitors with homemade comfort food across a comprehensive menu.
The restaurant excels with its three distinct menus – breakfast, lunch and dinner. The breakfast menu offers a range of favourites, from simple cereals to a wide range of egg dishes, as well as a vast selection of “on toast” options. While the lunch menu also incorporates the dinner menu lineup, it is noticeable in its addition of flatbread, sandwich and burger choices – conspicuous in their absence from the dinner menu. Casually chic, the restaurant’s evening menu offers some standout steak picks, particularly the 600g Dry Aged Black Angus T-Bone, an excellent choice when paired with the French Bordeaux Blend, Pauillac de Batailley.
Hillhouse is a fine alternative for the family. While serving up some of the best fare in the neighbourhood, it also features a dedicated kids’ play area. The 6-hour happy hour running daily from 1 - 7pm means this establishment also doubles as a laidback community focal point. The Wednesday evening ‘Ladies of Dubai Hills’ event is also a popular option and offers 3 courses and 3 drinks for just AED 150. Similar to The Duck Hook, Hillhouse Brasserie also offers its own Weekend Roast, however, theirs runs across both Saturday and Sunday.
REIF Japanese Kushiyaki
While not located in the golf club itself, this Kaiseki-inspired Japanese establishment is just a short drive away – located in Dubai Hills Business Park. Offering "unconventional Japanese”, the restaurant is the brainchild of one of the UAE’s most popular chefs, Reif Othman, who brings vast experience to the venture. The Singaporean kitchen maestro was named factmagazine.com’s Chef of the Year in 2022 and provides a unique take on Japanese street food – exclaiming that his signature restaurant “is not about quantity, it’s about relationships”. The restaurant is also the only licensed branch of REIF Japanese Kushiyaki, meaning guests can enjoy a cocktail with their meal without having to go outside the community.
An entirely self-funded restaurateur, Reif’s cooking is renowned for its quality and consistency, continually pushing the boundaries of possibility – exemplified by his viral ‘toilet roll’ yuzu and lemon cake during the COVID pandemic. The Dubai Hills location promises a “fuller menu”, featuring a range of 3-piece nigiri, 4-piece sushi and traditional kushiyaki options. The maki rolls offer a particular highlight, while the oozara is also a fine addition to the menu. In addition, the ramen dishes serve as the chef’s heartfelt tribute to the street food culture so closely associated with the Land of the Rising Sun.
The restaurant also offers a Bento Lunch each weekday from 12-3 pm, as well as a happy hour from 5-7 pm, but, undeniably, REIF Japanese Kushiyaki’s stand-out feature is the catering option they offer. The eatery’s skilled chefs are available for a personalised dining experience in your own home – showcasing their traditional techniques, while also cooking up some of the world-class fare which has made the restaurant so popular.
Dubai Hills Estate offers more than just refined living – it presents a dining scene that seamlessly meets the high expectations of its sophisticated residents and visitors. From the outstanding weekend roast served with sweeping golf course views at Hillhouse Brasserie, to the elevated international flavours crafted at REIF, the neighbourhood caters to a diverse range of culinary preferences. For those seeking a more relaxed setting, The Duck Hook delivers a leisurely atmosphere paired with exceptional British-themed pub fare. Wherever you choose to dine, Dubai Hills Estate stands out as a neighbourhood where exceptional cuisine and sophisticated ambience go hand in hand.
