Charting a New Course: The Origins of Four Seasons Yachts
Building on the success of the Four Seasons Private Jets venture, the company announced its foray into the luxury yacht space in September 2023. The move aims to extend Four Seasons’ signature service and unparalleled attention to detail to the world’s oceans, creating bespoke voyages that combine elegance, privacy, and immersive travel experiences for its most discerning guests.
Intended as a key pillar of Four Seasons’ future growth, the drift into yachting signals the brand’s diversification beyond land and air-based hospitality, bringing its hallmark hospitality to the world’s oceans for an entirely new level of luxury travel.
In 2025, it was announced that the company, in partnership with Marc-Henry Cruise Holdings and Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, would license its name for the creation of a Four Seasons Yachts fleet, the first of which is known as Four Seasons I. A second vessel has reportedly been ordered already, due for delivery in late 2026.

Four Seasons Yachts: A Concept Wrapped in Exclusivity
Set for its inaugural voyage in 2026, Four Seasons I marks the brand’s first step into the world of yachting, combining the brand’s legendary hospitality with cutting-edge design and unrivalled comfort. With captain Kate McCue at the helm – who made history in 2015 as the first American female captain of a mega-ton cruise ship (more on her below) – this 207-metre, 34,000-ton vessel spans 15 decks and offers 95 all-suite accommodations, ensuring the elegance of the Four Seasons’ land-based resorts is present on the high seas.
Crafted in collaboration with Tilberg Design of Sweden and creative director Prosper Assouline, the yacht embodies a vision of mid-century glamour and jet-set sophistication, with panoramic views, understated simplicity, and residential-style layouts that put guests first.
Each suite offers 50% more living space per guest than competitors at sea, featuring floor-to-ceiling windows, expansive private terraces, double vanity bathrooms, and cleverly designed modular layouts. With over 100 suite connection options, families or groups can even reserve an entire side of a deck for a truly private experience. It is also possible to buy out the entire yacht for exclusive events.
For the ultimate indulgence, seven signature suites range from 277 to 927 square metres, with the crown jewel being the Funnel Suite – a four-level, glass-enclosed masterpiece offering 280-degree panoramic views and the largest contiguous piece of glass at sea.
Whether cruising the Caribbean or the Mediterranean, Four Seasons I promises a new standard of privacy, elegance, and immersive luxury for travellers at sea.

Life Onboard: What to Expect
Life aboard the Four Seasons I is full of moments which have been carefully curated for indulgence and discovery. The culinary collection spans 11 restaurants and lounges, celebrating the brand’s heritage of gastronomic innovation – from coastal Mediterranean flavours to fine dining and poolside treats, there is a menu to satisfy every palate.
For relaxation, the yacht’s canoe-shaped aft boasts a 20-metre jellyfish-protected salt-water pool, one of the largest at sea. A hydraulic lift allows the space to transform seamlessly into a multifunctional area, perfect for events or leisure.
The yacht’s ‘Piscine’ area functions as a vibrant hub for social gatherings. Seen as the heart of the yacht, Piscine features a freshwater pool deck, perfect for leisurely swims by day, which seamlessly transforms into an evening dance floor thanks to its innovative design – catering perfectly to those who wish to enjoy vibrant nightlife at sea.
Four Seasons’ commitment to wellness courses through the vessel like an oar slicing through a calm lake. Guests can relax in the tranquil spa, enjoy rejuvenating treatments in private remedy rooms, or maintain their fitness routines in a state-of-the-art gym equipped for cardio, strength training, and stretching – much like the exceptional spa facilities on offer at their land-based properties.
Authentic yachting moments abound thanks to the innovative transverse marina, spanning the yacht from port to starboard. This high-tech piece of kit provides direct access to the sea and a launchpad for a variety of watersports, while ‘limo tenders’ enable exploration of secluded coves and hard-to-reach destinations. It also boasts two retractable platforms and a central bar and lounge.
Service aboard Four Seasons I is unmatched. As the first hotel group to operate a ship, Four Seasons delivers a 1:1 guest-to-staff ratio, ensuring every experience – from dining to excursions – is executed with flawless attention to detail.

Carefully aligned with the seasons, Four Seasons I will transition to the Mediterranean for the European summer, embarking on Grand Mediterranean voyages that encompass the Adriatic, Rivieras, Greek Isles, and beyond, also allowing history enthusiasts to explore the storied coastlines of Croatia, Gibraltar, Montenegro, Italy, Portugal, Spain, and Turkey. Kids for All Seasons: A Voyage of Discovery for Young Guests
A hallmark of Four Seasons resorts worldwide, Kids for All Seasons treats children as guests in their own right – and aboard Four Seasons I, the program has been reimagined for life at sea. Designed for creativity, autonomy, and discovery, it offers a flexible onboard experience that responds to each child’s interests and the surrounding destination. The club also presents parents with a touch more flexibility and freedom to enjoy their own cruise.
Housed in a dedicated club space with a 1:6 staff-to-child ratio, activities are fully customisable, allowing for a less rigid schedule which caters to the needs of guests. If they so desire, children may craft their own miniature yacht, create marine wildlife reports, attend regionally inspired workshops, or enjoy cinema nights. Musicians, chefs, and possibly even the captain occasionally join in, whether for a DJ lesson, pastry-making session, or behind-the-scenes bridge visit.
Pre-voyage consultations are intended to capture each child’s personality, ensuring a tailored experience from the moment the journey begins. On Marina Days, when watersports take place at sea level, children can continue to explore upstairs at their own pace. Teens can enjoy a looser, self-directed lounge with modern tech and gaming, offering more freedom within a safe, curated environment.
More than a kids’ club, Kids for All Seasons functions more like a voyage within a voyage, blending immersive encounters, storytelling, and playful learning into every moment at sea.

Meet the Captain
For most people who are spending an extended amount of time with any person, it helps to get to know them a touch, especially when they are in charge of your overall safety and well-being
Kate McCue, or “Captain Kate”, as she is affectionately known by crew members, will be on the bridge when Four Seasons I sets sail for its inaugural voyage – a true pioneer for female seafarers. As previously mentioned, McCue made history by becoming the first female captain of a mega-ton cruise ship, but her accomplishments do not end there. A graduate of the California Maritime Academy with nearly three decades of seafaring experience, she combines technical mastery with a deep passion for hospitality, ensuring every voyage is safe, seamless, and unforgettable.
As captain of the brand’s first ultra-luxury yacht, Captain Kate oversees navigation and the onboard experience for all guests and crew. She brings a pioneering spirit from prior roles at Celebrity Cruises, Royal Caribbean, and Disney Cruise Line, where she advanced female representation on ship bridges and fostered a culture of excellence at sea.
“For me, yachting embodies the essence of the sea – calm, effortless, and deeply rejuvenating,” says McCue, before going on to explain that she also enjoys connecting with guests and leading her “exceptional crew”, crafting journeys that continue to push the boundaries of possibility.
Her appointment marks a key milestone for Four Seasons Yachts as it prepares to welcome its first guests in 2026, promising voyages defined by innovation, elegance, and unparalleled service. This appointment also underscores Four Seasons’ commitment to equality. In an industry in which such high-profile positions have traditionally been reserved for men, the company has, as a progressive brand, placed its full confidence in Captain McCue, demonstrating that talent – and not gender – is what truly matters.
