&nbsp;“I fondly recall how invaluable my time in retail was, offering me a foundational understanding of the market. Retail is where it all started. It’s where I met clients directly, and I got an immediate sense of what people are looking for. Moving from retail to wholesale and then to auctions allowed me to see the full spectrum of the watch industry. Post the pandemic particularly, the recognition of watches as a valuable asset has grown immensely. In the last five years, we’re looking at a palpable surge in interest. Thanks to the internet, the luxury watch market has truly become a global one. Watches are now on par with cars as an investment, and it’s wonderful to see people appreciating the craftsmanship and niche pieces in greater detail.”

<h2>What ignited your interest in watches and how old were you when you bought your first luxury watch?</h2>
“I could talk a great deal on the subject of personal watches with sentimental value. I remember receiving one from my grandfather, I was probably about six or seven years old. Of no great value as such, the watch was priceless to me. It was a Seiko. This must have triggered the interest and ignited a passion for watches, for well-executed, well-designed objects. By the age of ten, I had received my first ever Rolex – a milestone that marked my entry into the sphere of more serious watch collecting. There’s something deeply fascinating about the patience and dedication required to craft these pieces. Just like Japanese woodworking, the attention to detail and the manual labour involved in creating a watch is something truly special.”

“That's an interesting question. To me, time goes beyond just the passing of moments; it’s about craftsmanship and human ingenuity. It is about what you make with time. My appreciation for watchmaking comes from the intricate mechanics inside each piece. It’s like an art form, akin to other crafts I admire, such as Japanese woodworking. I have a great appreciation for the mechanical intricacy and complexity of such objects. What better way to represent time than through this dedication to watch artistry.”

<h2>Do you have a favourite personal timepiece or a brand that holds a special place in your life or collection?</h2>
“Yes, it was the Seiko, actually. Another one is an FP Journe, a watch I took a big chance on a few years ago when I bought it. I traded a more commercial watch that I had for the FP Journe I really loved, knowing it would be expensive to maintain and that the reliability might not be as strong – after all, it’s a fine-tuned, handmade mechanical piece. At the time, I wasn’t sure it was a smart move, but it turned out to be a great decision, and I’ve done very well with it. I even wore it on my wedding day. I should’ve sold it a few years ago, but I haven’t been able to part with it. I’m terrible at selling my own watches – I do well for my clients, but when it comes to my own collection, it’s becoming a bit of a challenge because I’m running out of space in the safe.”

<h2>What trends have you observed in the Middle Eastern luxury watch market over the years, and how is Sotheby’s placed to provide for the growing trends?</h2>
The new generation in the Middle East is moving away from overtly flashy pieces. They now prefer watches that are rare, collectible, and discreet. It’s not about status anymore; it’s about personal taste and investment potential. This shift is better aligned with broader global trends. We’re seeing more interest in brands like Cartier, which are now setting records at auctions. Sotheby’s has played a massive role in increasing the visibility of these pieces.”
“A broad part of my mandate here is to find new ways to target audience segments, especially among the younger spectrum. The Middle East has seen a growing focus on pre-owned luxury watches. For the past six years or so, the number of participants from the region in the luxury watch market increased to a large extent. I have served the luxury industry in the Middle East and Asia for many years now, providing the kind of solutions – that are expected from an auction house such as Sotheby’s –&nbsp; to a wide base of clients and key collectors, whether it was product availability or helping them refine their collections. The awareness for the market of high-end, collectable watches is very developed in Dubai. All the key brands are well represented throughout, with product availability of complications, limited editions, and ‘hard to find watches' coming to the auction house on a regular basis. What I love about auctions is that you get to work with unique pieces, pieces that have a story, pieces that you won’t find anywhere else.”

“Given the vastness of the market, a collector should look for the right advice from the right source. Sotheby’s advisory and consultancy services – whether for a single purchase or for building and maintaining a collection – can show buyers why they should consider certain pieces from a particular maker, the models, and references that are of interest. I often tell collectors to consider themed collections, such as chronographs or classic pieces. Vintage watches, especially models like vintage Rolexes or deep-diving watches by Rolex, are in high demand. It’s about enjoying the craft, the design, and the history behind each watch. You should collect what you truly enjoy, pay attention to the finishing of the movement, and consider the servicing, as this will impact the longevity of the watch. I can think of brands like Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin, and Piguet which are all exemplary in movement design, and always adhere to highest standards of making, finishing, and testing.”

<h2>There are hundreds of brands that all claim to be luxurious, to some extent. How could all these brands coexist in this crowded space? Each brand needs to find its narrative to survive, right?</h2>
“It comes down to marketing. Many brands create alluring narratives, sometimes out of thin air, often taking a single event and turning it into a much bigger story. We’ve seen a huge bubble in the watch market in 2021 and 2022, and with that came a flood of new brands – some more successful than others. I often wonder how all these watches can be absorbed by new buyers each year. Take Rolex, for example. They’re planning to increase production significantly in the coming years. In contrast, brands like Patek Philippe only produce around 40,000 watches a year, and some like F.P. Journe only 15 or 20. While there’s a watch for every price point, buyers are becoming more knowledgeable. They’re no longer just following trends; they want substance behind their purchase. Collectors tend to focus on the design and the time spent on crafting these pieces. When you have watches that are handmade, with every part polished by hand –&nbsp; that’s where the true value lies. The level of finishing is extraordinary, and when I explain this to my clients, they understand that, while money may come and go, value endures.”

<h2>With your knowledge in key markets across the Middle East, how do cultural nuances influence what buyers or collectors value most in these watches?</h2>
“The Middle East is a unique market with a distinct mixture of tradition and modernity, where collectors equally veer towards both timeless pieces and bold, contemporary designs. A very proactive role that we lead in this region is educating the audiences to distinguish between what is value, history, provenance, craftsmanship, and items that are not worth paying attention to. For example, Saudi Arabia is growing rapidly in the watch collecting zone, though their tastes might evolve a bit more slowly compared to places like the UAE, which has been more avant-garde in its approach. Qatar is another example, with a younger generation choosing new brands and models with an incredibly sophisticated sense of style. The Middle East is a major player in the watch market, and this evolution reflects a broader shift. One of the region's advantages is the safety and security people enjoy here. Collectors can own watches and keep them at home without the same concerns about theft that we see in some European capitals, where the media often report stories of high-profile robberies. People here may feel more comfortable with visible, high-value timepieces, whereas in Europe, there is often more caution about showing such wealth.”

<h2>What excites you most in your role as Senior Director and Specialist at Sotheby’s? Are any specific opportunities or challenges unique to this region?</h2>

“My role is to help clients buy and sell watches through auctions, but often goes beyond that. We work across many categories, and I help place some of the rarest pieces with the right collectors, from art to jewellery. A couple of years ago, a client introduced me to one of his friends who decided to consign an entire collection of watches. We conducted a single-owner sale in New York, which was incredibly rewarding. Outside the watch world, I helped with some of the remarkable diamonds sold in Geneva last autumn, and it's moments like this that make the job so enjoyable and diverse. The Middle East, in particular, is a buyer’s market, so I rarely deal with sellers who are under financial pressure to sell. It’s more about matching clients with pieces that bring them joy. Recently, another client reached out, recommending someone who had a collection of watches they weren’t wearing. The pieces I got sent are extraordinary, so I’m hopeful I’ll be selling those watches at auction pretty soon.”

<h2>How do you see the market for rare timepieces moving forward in Dubai and the region overall?</h2>
“Recent years saw inflation and prices on the rise. We’re now seeing a return to more grounded values, where buyers are getting watches to enjoy, rather than simply to invest. I always tell my clients: buy a watch because you love it. If you buy wisely, you’re likely to see your purchase maintain its value over time – and may even make a profit. Buying solely with investment in mind isn’t the right approach, as the market is never guaranteed. If you buy a piece you truly love and accept that it may lose some value, you’ll be able to enjoy it every day. If the value does drop, at least you’ve had the joy of wearing it. The younger collectors we see today are quite savvy – they understand the value of maintaining these pieces, and watches are much easier to care for compared to other luxury items like cars. These watches remain a wearable investment that can be passed down through generations. I believe it should be the real pleasure of owning a watch that will last that makes all the difference. I’m the Senior Vice President for Luxury Sales at Sotheby’s. I specialise in jewellery, but I do sometimes lean into other areas of luxury items, such as watches and handbags. Sotheby’s operates in two strands of business—auctions and private sales. My role spans both, but my day-to-day focuses on private sales, i.e. clients looking to buy or sell precious items outside of the auction season.&nbsp;

<h2>Can you tell us more about your background in high jewellery retail and how it shapes your work today?</h2>

I spent 20 years in the luxury retail industry, working at length with brands like Cartier, Harry Winston, and Piaget. I lived in Paris for seven years, Hong Kong for ten , and now I’ve been in the auction world for the past seven years.
Essentially, I connect buyers and sellers. For example, if someone is looking for a vintage Van Cleef necklace from the 1940s, or a 50-carat flawless emerald cut diamond, I will source it for them. I also work with stones—whether it’s a sapphire, a pink diamond, or a blue diamond, I can source it and even set it. Following my years in retail, I have strong relationships with workshops around the world that create high jewellery for brands like Van Cleef &amp; Arpels and Tiffany &amp; Co. That means I can create bespoke pieces—perhaps a ring, a necklace, or a full wedding set with matching necklace, bracelet, earrings, and ring.&nbsp;
On the flip side, if someone is looking to sell a piece, I can help connect them with a potential buyer. Contrary to what many might expect, much of this is done via phone and WhatsApp, with many requests coming in by personal referral. It is not uncommon to be in the process of working with someone, then suddenly you have their sister, their friend, and others, messaging you to enquire about precious items they also wish to buy or sell. In this respect, every day is very different.&nbsp;

<h2>Maintaining trusted relationships is the backbone of what you do. What’s your secret to maintaining such strong connections with a diverse clientele?</h2>

Trust and transparency. I always approach things as if I were spending my own money. If I wouldn’t buy a piece myself, I’d never recommend it to a client. For instance, if someone is looking for a 10-carat Kashmir sapphire and I source one that meets the criteria but doesn’t quite have the rich shade of blue expected from a true pedigree stone, I will be honest and upfront. I’ll explain that while the stone has three certificates, is Kashmir, and is priced well, it falls slightly short of being exceptional. If time allows, I’ll offer to search further to find something that truly stands out. Same with a pink diamond: if I find a 5-carat vivid pink diamond that ticks the boxes but doesn’t have that exact rich bubblegum pink that really pops, I will be upfront with the client and advise them on their options – and of course, they may still choose to buy the item and that’s fine but they’ll know they can rely on me for not only expert but also objective advice.&nbsp;
It ultimately boils down to being straightforward and transparent, giving clients all of the information needed to help them make an informed decision.&nbsp;

<h2>You must deal with some incredible pieces. Can you share a memorable example?</h2>

Many of the pieces I deal with are under the radar. Often, a client may be gifting something and doesn’t want it to appear in a public auction, or they’re looking for a special gift where the recipient shouldn’t know the price paid. Public auctions make this information accessible, so much of what I do remains private. That said, I’ve worked with some incredible jewels, and one of my personal passions is Golconda diamonds. These diamonds come from the original diamond deposits in India—discovered long before the diamonds of Brazil in 1725 or South Africa in the 1860s. Up until 1725, nearly all the world’s diamonds came from India, and Golconda diamonds are known for their exceptional quality, both in white and colored stones.
I love them not only because they’re stunning but because of their historical significance. They possess a beauty that modern diamonds simply can’t replicate, especially when viewed in candlelight, which was the light source of their time. They emanate a gorgeous soft glow and have a unique cut, since they were crafted using techniques far different from today’s. I have a client who shares this love of Golconda diamonds, and it’s incredibly satisfying to source such a rare piece and place it with someone who truly understands and appreciates its history, beauty, and value.&nbsp;

<h2>What sets Sotheby’s apart when it comes to fine jewels?&nbsp;</h2>

It’s our ability to go beyond the surface and create items that are truly bespoke. For instance, I recently worked with a gentleman who commissioned a ring for his wife’s birthday. They’d just welcomed their second child, and he wanted a truly special piece. I sourced a beautiful Golconda diamond for the centerpiece, which he loved, and we designed the ring from scratch.
To make it even more bespoke, I suggested adding a subtle, personal touch inside the ring—something only he and his wife would know about. We included two tiny diamonds: a 0.02-carat diamond for their eldest child and a 0.01-carat diamond for their newborn, set discreetly inside the band. We also engraved the children’s birthdates. For me, it’s about more than just jewellery—it’s creating a connection and a moment. He loved it, his wife loved it, and it became more than a ring. It’s a story and a keepsake that carries deep personal meaning.&nbsp;
This is just one example, but it’s those details, that level of care, and the craftsmanship behind the scenes that make all the difference. It’s bespoke, and it’s human, which is exactly what our clientele expects—and deserves.

<h2>You now live in Dubai after years in Paris, London, and Hong Kong. How does it compare?&nbsp;</h2>

I absolutely love living in Dubai, it’s fantastic for us as an international family. I’m British, my wife is Lebanese, and we have two daughters. One was born in London, the other in Hong Kong, where we lived for 10 years before moving to Dubai in 2022. For us, Dubai has always felt like home from home. It’s where I met my wife, where we married, and where she was raised, so the city has been part of our story for a long time.&nbsp;
Dubai just offers so much: the lifestyle, the opportunities, and its location as the middle of the world. The proximity to Europe and Asia is incredibly convenient for what I do, and with Emirates flying nearly everywhere, you can get to almost any destination with ease.&nbsp;
We arrived in 2022, right as Dubai was experiencing the post-Covid uplift, and the energy here has been extraordinary. Abu Dhabi is also going from strength to strength, and the entire GCC region is thriving. Having worked in luxury for so long—starting my career on Bond Street, then in Paris—I can say that GCC clients have always been the foundation of the luxury industry. They are incredibly loyal, with a deep appreciation for quality and heritage.

<h2>Are there differences in taste between clients in the GCC and those in, say, Hong Kong?</h2>

There’s definitely a difference in taste when it comes to clients in the GCC compared to other regions, particularly after spending 10 years in Hong Kong. For instance, with necklaces, a typical Asian buyer often prefers what I call a Y-shaped design—a single line of stones that hugs the neck and drops elegantly into a décolleté. In contrast, GCC buyers tend to gravitate toward bib-style necklaces, often as part of a full set that includes matching earrings, a bracelet, and sometimes a ring. There’s also a greater appetite for experimenting with colour here.&nbsp;
Crucially, the Emirates offers a sense of safety and security that encourages people to actually wear their jewellery more freely. Watches, handbags, and fine jewels aren’t just stored away—they’re worn and enjoyed. Whether it’s for lunch, dinner, or a packed calendar of social events, there’s always an opportunity to showcase these pieces. This creates a faster-moving appetite for luxury, as clients look to “refresh” their collections with new pieces.
Another difference is buyer motivation, as clients in the GCC tend to be more inclined to buy purely for the joy of it. Of course, there are collectors who consider long-term value and investment, but many buyers—especially women purchasing for themselves—simply fall in love with a piece. It’s not always about the five- or ten-year return; it’s about the immediate beauty and pleasure of wearing something extraordinary.

<h2>What excites you most about the future of jewellery?</h2>
I’m passionate about bespoke design and contemporary jewellery. Instagram has been a game-changer, providing a platform for emerging designers to showcase their work. We’re collaborating with Anna Martin, a British designer with a punk aesthetic, for a private selling exhibition in January. She’s partnered with Guy Berryman from Coldplay to create a collection, and we’re tying it into their Abu Dhabi tour. Projects like this bring fresh energy to the industry.

<h2>What’s a career highlight you’ll always cherish?</h2>
Holding antique pieces like the extraordinary Anglesey three-stranded diamond necklace which has the most unbelievable origin story mixing true historical milestones as well as&nbsp; the darkening of Marie Antoinette’s ill-fated reputation. Or the Eternal Pink diamond which was the most outstanding pink diamond I have ever seen in my career, boasting an incredible bubble gum pink colour. Those two are pretty special highlights for me. It has been most interesting to observe the growing trends in the Middle Eastern luxury market, said Claire: “Middle Eastern clients are some of the most knowledgeable handbag collectors I’ve encountered. They travel the world to acquire the best pieces, often from Europe and the U.S., and they’re not shy to spend to get what they want. In the Middle East, however, the market veers towards newer items, with a focus on exclusive pieces rather than vintage ones, unlike in Europe where vintage and second-hand items are widely revered. While Europeans tend to embrace vintage for history and character, Middle Eastern clients are more drawn to the latest releases.”
The auction house understands the need to educate and keep clients interested in the Middle Eastern market. They are betting heavily on limited editions while also educating consumers on the importance of acquiring not just a rare, vintage bag but also unique designs that are no longer available in stores. Claire believes the luxury handbag market in the region will see a significant shift towards sustainability and the appreciation of second-hand products, and she fully intends to bring that enthusiasm to her Middle East client base. Claire educates clients on brands that hold their value and plans to mirror the same success Sotheby’s holds in other regions – like Europe and America – across the Middle Eastern market.

<h2>What Brands Sit at The Very Top?</h2>

We asked Claire what defines a truly collectable handbag, and if we were to link the luxury handbag market to a pyramid, which brand would sit at the top? Plainly obvious, the holding value of a Hermès is unchanging. The Birkin bag has real visibility and real impact – Hermès’ success remains a phenomenon. Close behind, another two leaders are catching up, in terms of both price and quality – Chanel and Louis Vuitton. Current trends also point to a high preference for neutral colours and specific styles like the mini Kelly.

“Many clients don’t fully grasp how the auction process works, especially when it comes to terms like ‘low estimate,’ ‘high estimate,’ ‘reserve price’ and the actual sale price. In the Middle East, there's a tendency to expect high prices upfront at bidding, but we start with a low estimate to attract bids from around the world and then aim for the highest return possible. Clients also ask about consigning pieces versus selling them outright, which is another key differentiator between our approach and resale stores."
Looking ahead, Claire is excited knowing the future of the luxury market in the Middle East is as highly active as it is ever-growing. “We’ve seen such growing interest, especially with the auction we’re organising in Saudi Arabia in February 2025. When Katia Nounou took the helm of Sotheby’s Dubai office in 2017, she wasn’t just opening doors to an office—she was opening the Middle East to the global art market.

It is a quiet day in Dubai, but for Katia Nounou Boueiz, the day is anything but. From unveiling masterpieces for the first time in the UAE to orchestrating high-profile events, her days are marked by art and action in equal measure, and somewhere in the mix, a Picasso or Botticelli might find its way through her capable hands. As Deputy Chairman of Sotheby’s Middle East, Katia has spent the past seven years weaving connections that anchor the global art world in this burgeoning market. Speaking with Dubai Sotheby’s International Realty, she shares the story of a region that’s stepping into the spotlight, opening its doors to the international art stage and transforming its cultural landscape with fervour.&nbsp;

<h2>A Blank Canvas Of Opportunity</h2>

Katia joined Sotheby’s London at a catalytic moment for the global economy: in 2008, just before the financial crisis. With a degree in French Literature from the prestigious University College of London to hand, she began her career at Sotheby’s working in the private client sector, nurturing the Middle Eastern client base from London.&nbsp;
She said: “After graduating, I went straight into the private client group, with a special focus on growing the Middle Eastern client base. A key goal here was to nurture a new generation of collectors, including the sons and daughters of existing collectors already tied to the region, which we did by hosting young collectors events.”
“2008 was certainly a strange time to enter the workforce—just before a global financial crisis—but it taught me very quickly that we are a resilient company that is able to innovate and adapt to changing circumstances. It’s how we’re still in business over 280 years since we first started trading,” she added.
In 2015, Katia relocated to Dubai with her husband. Shortly after, she was presented with a momentous opportunity: to establish the first Sotheby’s office and gallery in the Middle East. Balancing the demands of leadership and motherhood with two babies under two, she embraced the challenge and officially opened the doors to Sotheby’s Dubai in 2017.
“It was a daunting yet exciting challenge,” she said. “Having already spent years in the company, I knew the brand inside and out and felt a deep loyalty to it. This connection made the task of introducing a historic auction house to a new region incredibly rewarding.”
A natural bridge between cultures, Katia grew up in London and went to a French school. She is deeply rooted in the Middle Eastern region by way of her Iraqi and Iranian parents – a perfect pairing for a city as cosmopolitan as Dubai, where 80% of the population is expatriate. She said, “Unlike London or New York, where collecting has been woven into the cultural fabric for centuries, the UAE market is nascent but rapidly evolving, fuelled by a surge in art collectors moving to the Emirates. Today, we are seeing more prestigious galleries opening, such as the Guggenheim and Louvre in Abu Dhabi, more exhibitions visiting, and a growing number of people who simply want to grow their collections, whether it’s vintage cars, jewellery, or art. This ecosystem just didn’t exist in 2015.”
She added, “The joy of collecting in Dubai is that people feel safer embracing the lifestyle that comes with collecting, whether it’s wearing the precious stones they purchase, or actually displaying valuable paintings on the walls of their home.”

<h2>A Turning Point: When Rembrandt Met The Middle East&nbsp;</h2>
They say greatness demands risk, and Katia proved this precisely in 2019 when she brought a religious Rembrandt masterpiece to Dubai for the first time.&nbsp;
“In the early stages of opening in Dubai, I contacted the head of the Old Masters department in London and asked if I could showcase this particular Rembrandt to Dubai, the Head of a Young Man with Clasped Hands. This painting depicts a young man in prayer as Jesus Christ, so the concern was that the painting would not resonate well in a Muslim country.”
After some persuasion, and with full confidence that the market would rise to the occasion, Katia arranged a spectacular unveiling of the masterpiece in Dubai, inviting the Minister of Culture and the Directors of the Louvre Abu Dhabi.&nbsp;

In a moment that Katia describes as coming ‘full circle’, the Louvre Abu Dhabi acquired the piece within two months of it being unveiled. “This was the first time we saw a huge result from bringing a painting such as this to Dubai. It was a risk, but it was one of those things that just worked on an energetic level,” she reflected.&nbsp;
Other masterpieces exhibited by Sotheby’s in Dubai include Botticelli’s Young Man Holding a Roundel, which set a record in 2020 as the highest-value painting ever brought to the Middle East by an auction house at $80 million. This record was surpassed in 2023 after Picasso’s monumental Femme à la Montre was unveiled in Dubai as the first stop on its world tour. It also marked the first time the piece had been displayed outside of America in over 50 years.&nbsp;

It isn’t only centuries-old masterpieces passing through the galleries and auctions of Sotheby’s Middle East – a number of era-defining contemporary pieces are also regularly showcased, a notable example being Maurizio Cattelan’s contentious Comedian. A highly provocative piece of conceptual fine art, Comedian is the famed banana taped to the wall, positioned exactly 1.6 metres above the ground. Several days after the piece was showcased in Dubai Sotheby’s in November, Comedian sold at a Sotheby’s auction in New York for a staggering $6.2 million, attracting a slew of media headlines exploring the meaning of art and value.&nbsp; The piece, as critiqued by art adviser Rob Teeters, is a “perfect representation of the times that we're living in, which celebrates spectacle.”&nbsp; Local artists have also enjoyed the spotlight in Sotheby’s under Katia’s leadership. “There is a huge appetite for local artists, and we always have a strong presence of Emirati artists in our galleries and auctions because the demand is very much there. I am a keen collector of such works,” she said.&nbsp; Sotheby’s latest initiative, the Gallery Collective, further celebrates regional creative talent. Partnering with ten local galleries—including Leila Heller Gallery, Tabari Artspace, and Zidoun-Bossuyt Gallery—it transforms the DIFC space into a rotating showcase of boutique exhibitions, refreshed every six to eight weeks. The collective launched in November 2024 and will run for two years.

<h2>Abu Dhabi Is Emerging As A Cultural Powerhouse&nbsp;</h2>
The Middle East is no longer on the periphery of the international art world – quite the contrary. Earlier this year, ADQ, an Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund, invested a staggering $1 billion into Sotheby’s, reaffirming its ambition of positioning the UAE and its neighbours at the forefront of cultural innovation and artistic excellence. This comes alongside the upcoming Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, a masterpiece of postmodern architecture set in the prestigious Saadiyat Cultural District, and the Louvre Abu Dhabi, which opened in 2017.&nbsp;

Monterey Car Week and RM Sotheby’s have routinely showcased rare gems at auction, such as 2023’s Lost and Found Collection. This lot of 20 Ferraris that had languished in storage for decades found new life in the event’s spotlight. RM Sotheby’s ended up claiming five of the top ten sales of that week, more than any other auction house present.

This was one of 4 cars designed specifically to tackle the Carrera Panamericana, a rally across the length of Mexico that’s divided into 9 stages taking place across a span of 5 days. It is widely considered to be one of the most dangerous races in the world and it calls for a racing machine that can glide over uneven roads. Ferrari fitted the 410 Spider with a low frame that had a shorter wheelbase and was powered by its largest engine, a 4,961 cc V-12. The race for that year was cancelled before the Spider could compete and it instead made its debut and earned its first victory at the Palm Springs Road Races in 1956 as part of the Scuderia Parravano. Mounting legal issues forced Parravano to flee to Mexico, and the 410 was among the vehicles that he took with him.
<h2> 1957 Ferrari 625 TRC Spider by Scaglietti</h2>

The 625 TRC was the result of Enzo Ferrari’s ingenuity and ability to turn unfavourable conditions to his advantage. When the organisers of Le Mans reduced engine capacity to 2.5 litres as part of their sweeping changes to the event after the infamous 1955 disaster, Ferrari was quick to adapt to change and created the 625 LM, using the four-cylinder Tipo 625 Formula 1 engine. While that wasn’t as successful as expected, it did lead to the creation of the 625 TRC, which transplanted that same engine into the 500 TRC chassis. Only two such racers were designed for the South California racing circuit and this specific model became a fast favourite, achieving 21 top-three finishes and 10 victories over 40 races. It is fitted with the same Colombo V-12 that powered the 250 TR, but the original engine will also be packaged with the car.
<h2> 2002 Ferrari F2001b Formula 1</h2>

This car holds a special place in racing history because of its long association with Michael Schumacher and was an integral part of his 2002 racing season. It is one of only 30 chassis that he drove to victory. This was a modified version of the 2001 chassis that was on its way out and was meant to be an interim vehicle while the chassis for the 2002 season was in the final stages of design. Mechanical issues cast doubts on the 2001b’s ability to perform, but Schumacher laid those doubts to rest when he won the season’s opening race. He would go on to win the Driver’s Championship and the chassis would make its way into racing legend.
<h2> 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 NART Alloy by Scaglietti</h2>

The North American Racing Team (NART) was one of four privately owned racing teams that were supported by the Ferrari factory in the 1960’s and was a powerhouse on the track. Team owner Luigi Chinetti really wanted to have the 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 compete at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1969 but the vehicle was ineligible as its tires didn’t comply with the event’s standard. Instead, Chinetti opted to enter the car in the 24 Hours of Daytona race, where it had a strong showing.
<h2> 1954 Ferrari 500 Mondial Spider by Pinin Farina</h2>

After an impressive debut at the 1,000-mile race, the car became a frequent participant in Nordic racing. It tackled events like the Ljungsdalbacken and Hedemor, and set a Swedish speed record at Varpenloppet. It would return to the Mille Miglia during the 70’s and 80’s, and even competed at the Monterey Historic Automobile Races.
<h2> 1995 Ferrari F50</h2>

It is technically not a racer, but was designed by Pininfarina as an homage to Ferrari’s legendary racing models from the 1950’s and 60’s. It even features the same V-12 engine that powered its 1992 Formula 1 car, which results in an impressive performance on the road. This is not just a Ferrari ‘supercar’ – it is the closest thing that exists to a legally drivable F1 racer. Only 349 models were produced, of which this is the 47th and one of just 55 US deliveries. Its illustrious list of previous owners includes Oscar-winning actor Nicolas Cage, and the car is the holder of three Platinum awards, the most recent of which was awarded in 2023. It is being sold with all original accessories and documentation. 
<h2> 1955 Porsche 550 Spyder by Wendler</h2>

Coupled with a 1,500 cc four-cam engine, the car became a force to be reckoned with on the track. This vehicle was the penultimate 550 Spyder ever built and was made for John von Neumann, a popular figure in Southern California racing who introduced brands like Porsche and Ferrari to the western United States. It faced the prospect of an early retirement after its debut race in 1956 but would go on to compete in more than 20 events between 1957 and 1958. 
<h2> 2006 McLaren-Mercedes MP4-21 Formula 1</h2>

It was the first to use the new naturally aspirated V-8 engine by Mercedes-Benz after the end of the V-10 era and was designed by F1 legend Adrian Newey during his final season with the McLaren-Mercedes team. It was driven by Juan Pablo Montoya during his sixth and final F1 season, and it would be used to test the mettle of a young Lewis Hamilton at the start of his career. The MP4-21 is one of the rare cars driven by Hamilton that isn’t part of a factory collection.
