He would follow that up with a win at the Hungary Grand Prix and would also earn the F1 Championship title, making it a legendary year for Ferrari. The vehicle responsible for all of those incredible feats is the 2001 Ferrari F2001, put together by the most skilled design team at the Ferrari Scuderia. Its most significant challenger on the street circuit was the 2001 McLaren MP4-16, driven by 13-time Grand Prix winner David Coulthard. Both of these vehicles went head-to-head on the track in 2001 and are now taking the stage in two separate European RM Sotheby’s auctions. Though not a direct clash this time, both events will undoubtedly set new records. 
 
First up is Milan, where the catwalks of high fashion are exchanged out for motorways showcasing an impressive collection of both classic and modern automobiles. The auction is to be held on 22 May at the Fonderia Macchi Carlo, a former industrial building that has been converted into a grand events space and has previously hosted fashion shows featuring the works of Valentino and Gucci, among others. An emblem of Milan’s unique sense of style, it is the perfect setting for an auction of this calibre. Among the lots up for auction are a 1932 Alfa Romeo by Pininfarina, a rare 1956 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing, and the McLaren MP4-16 driven by Coulthard in 2001’s racing season. 
A mere two days later, on the eve of the Grand Prix de Monaco, Schumacher’s iconic Ferrari F2001 will be offered for sale at the racing circuit in Monte Carlo. This is the first vehicle sale being conducted during the race weekend – an exceptional event that befits an exceptional vehicle.

This extraordinary machine clinched pole position and victory at the 2001 Hungarian Grand Prix, where Schumacher sealed his fourth Drivers’ title and Ferrari captured the Constructors’ Championship, securing back-to-back title doubles for the first time in Scuderia Ferrari history. It would also go on to be the last Ferrari Formula 1 car to conquer the streets of Monaco in a title-winning year. 
Powered by a screaming V-10 capable of reaching an electrifying 17,000 rpm, the F2001 represents the peak of Formula 1’s most sonorous era. Its engineering brilliance came courtesy of the Ferrari “super team” of Jean Todt, Ross Brawn, Rory Byrne, and Michael Schumacher himself. This quartet reshaped the modern era of Grand Prix racing, producing a car that remains unrivalled in terms of performance and sheer aesthetics. 
Recently overhauled by Ferrari in 2024 and the early months of 2025, this chassis is now presented in full running condition, ready for its next chapter in Corse Clienti or private collection use. This remarkable McLaren MP4-16, one of just seven built for the 2001 Formula 1 season,&nbsp; is a rare survivor from an era defined by intense competition and technical brilliance. The Scot outpaced his Finnish teammate Mika Häkkinen to complete his strongest season, and he was seen as the man who was most likely to make Schumacher sweat. It was chassis 16A-05, designed under the visionary direction of Adrian Newey and Neil Oatley, which delivered one of David Coulthard’s most memorable victories by helping him conquer the 2001 Austrian Grand Prix with poise and precision. 
It was also a star performer in qualifying trim, claiming pole positions at both the San Marino and Monaco Grands Prix. The car earned a podium at San Marino and recorded the fastest race laps in both Austria and Monaco, underscoring its speed and adaptability on the world’s toughest tracks. The philosophy behind the design of JGE was to craft a community that would evoke Europe’s sprawling country estates while incorporating features of Dubai’s natural landscape. A central element of its identity - and indeed its name - is golf, represented by two championship courses designed by Greg Norman. Named Fire and Earth, the courses offer much more than recreation: they are key to the community’s visual and spatial layout. Each home is oriented in such a way that it looks out over the fairways and the charming lakes that surround them.
From the time that JGE was first established, it has been especially popular with British families who were looking to set down roots in Dubai. In April, RM Sotheby’s is forgoing the traditional auction events for a unique trio of sales that emphasise discretion. Shift Online is one of the auctions lined up for this month, featuring a collection of nearly 100 supercars from across Europe and the Middle East. It is an online-only auction, with bidding open between the 23rd and 28th of April. Lots include a 1971 Ferrari Dino 246 GT by Scaglietti, a 1988 Bentley Continental Convertible by Mulliner Park Ward, and a 2007 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 Edition.

Gianni Agnelli held the distinction of being the wealthiest man in modern Italian history and was also the principal shareholder of Fiat. Over the course of his tenure, he controlled over 4% of Italy’s GDP and 16.5% of industrial research investment. Nicknamed ‘L’Avvocato’, or ‘The Lawyer’, Gianni was seen as the most influential figure in Italian business between the 1960s and 1980s and was considered to be the ‘King of Italy’. His influence extended beyond the realm of business; known for his eclectic fashion sense, he shaped trends in the Italian fashion industry and beyond. 
As the grandson of Fiat’s founder, Gianni became the company’s heir apparent after losing his father at the age of 14. Under his leadership, Fiat became the most prominent car brand in Italy and a significant presence across Europe. 
Gianni was a fan of his own cars and owned several custom-built Fiats, as well as cars from other companies he had business interests in. The trio of cars being put up for auction this month are a perfect reflection of his multifaceted tastes and are fantastic examples of what Fiat could produce. 
The most iconic piece in his collection is a 1974 Fiat 130 Familiare, which was commissioned specially for him and remained under his ownership for 11 years. Only three 130 Familiares were ever built, all for members of the Agnelli family, and this is the first of them. Gianni had the car painted silver with faux wood trim, and it is the only one to have a roof rack with wicker basket installed on top, making it instantly recognisable. The car saw plenty of use in the winter months, when Gianni used the wicker basket to ferry his skis to and from the slopes of St. Moritz. 
Aside from his Familiare, Gianni also had a custom Panda 4x4 for winter travel. This was the ‘Mk2’ edition of the Panda, owned and used by Gianni for 15 years before it went into the care of its current consignor. It was recently restored to its original condition, an extensive process that was completed in early 2025. This remains one of the finest Fiat Pandas ever produced. 
The third vehicle is one of two prototype models built by the noted coachbuilder Zagato for Lancia. It was acquired by Gianni, who used it for two years. The car, known as the Lancia Thema Familiare, bears a striking resemblance to the original Familiare, a neat coincidence that brings thematic cohesion to this rare trio. Bidding for the lots is open until 24th April.

It is any collector’s dream to have some of the best sports cars ever made in their collection and to store them together in such a way that they can be brought out to play any time and anywhere. That was the impetus behind the creation of this lot, in which six Porsche 911s from the legendary 991-generation come bundled together with a transport truck. 
The collection comprises a GT3 Touring, 911 R, GT3 RS, GT3, GT3 Cup and GT3 Cup R. All of them are practically brand new, registering a maximum of 50 km of mileage. They have all had only a single owner and some of them have had minor servicing done, primarily oil and brake fluid changes. 
Each car also has some fantastic optional features and detailing included, among them a Bose sound system, 918 Spyder-style seats, full leather interiors and carbon fibre parts. From imposing black to more striking options like Indian Red and Racing Yellow, the colours alone make for an impressive display. 
Bringing it all together is a Rolfo Auriga transport truck with a trailer. It also has specific upgrades designed to accommodate its stunning cargo and has only registered 500km, presented in mint condition. The truck’s engine meets EURO 6 regulations and it comes with an EEC Certificate of Conformity, allowing it to be easily registered across the EU.

The art of cutting blue diamonds is a complex discipline that involves several stages. Do?ançay's celebrated Ribbons series, which came to light in the early 1970s, marked a striking evolution in his oeuvre. Departing from the textured, collage-based realism of his earlier depictions of weathered urban surfaces, these works unveil a more refined and abstract sensibility. The Ribbons paintings retain a deep connection to the street environment and resemble aspects of cursive Islamic calligraphy. Do?ançay himself acknowledged this resemblance in the titles of select pieces, while others remained deliberately untitled, inviting open interpretation.
